This week Nicole has been using the big Ford Expedition to haul away an old bedroom set. Robbie drove the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV in Portugal and Sam and Nicole both had first drives in new Toyotas, the Prius Prime and Corolla Cross Hybrid. Nicole and Sam both went to New York for the Auto Show where they saw the new Hyundai Kona and Kia EV9. Stellantis also publicly showed its upcoming electric pickup, the Ram 1500 REV and a refresh of the Jeep Wrangler. Tesla employees have been misappropriating videos uploaded from vehicles for AI training and Robbie saw Cruise and Waymo robotaxis having a disagreement in San Francisco. We also answer some listener questions and go on a collective rant about accessibility (or lack thereof) of EV chargers. This week Rebecca discusses the benefits and perils of driving a plug-in hybrid with the BMW X3 xDrive30e and the benefits and challenges of the Fiat 500X. Sam revisits the Honda CR-V hybrid and its weird noises before coming full circle on BMW with the 840i coupe. Meanwhile Dan has moving stuff with Ford’s very pricey F-350 Super Duty Platinum. In the news, Ford finally revealed the Bronco family with big off-roaders that are thoroughly modular and ready to take on the Jeep Wrangler’s stranglehold on the segment. There’s also the smaller Bronco Sport that may cause some confusion. Nissan also took the wraps off its next EV, the Ariya. The team wraps up with a rant on the Stellantis. As the guys get together one final time for 2018, Sam used the Buick Regal TourX to pick up a new puppy, and the Ram 1500 North Edition spends an extended stay in Dan’s driveway . We re-visit Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid impressions at the request of a listener looking to replace a GMC Safari, ponder a German Turbo EV, and consider the utility of fingerprints in the car. We finish up by answering a listener question about aerodynamics on everyday cars before bidding everyone a pre-emptive Happy New Year. If you’re just dying to know, the GMC Safari and Chevy Astro had up to 170.4 cu ft of cargo volume while the current long wheelbase Ford Transit Connect offers 127.4 cubic feet and the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has 140.5 cubic feet.
