No, Toyota’s Upcoming Reveal Isn’t A Truck

Last week Toyota released a teaser image of a new vehicle that it’s going be revealing on February 10, 2026. In a post here on Wheel Bearings, I speculated that this was probably a new crossover and provided some rationale for what it might be, perhaps a production version of an electric crossover that was first shown as a concept in December 2021. However, commenters said I was wrong and that this was a new pickup truck, potentially the long speculated Stout compact pickup to compete with the Ford Maverick. Toyota has now released a second teaser image and this time it shows the interior of the vehicle and it’s absolutely clear that unless Toyota is building a truck with a large 3-row cab, this is indeed an SUV/crossover. Toyota Prius Prime Gets The Plug-in Hybrid Right, Now About That Design

Ok, let’s immediately deal with the elephant in the room. The Toyota Prius Prime is not an attractive vehicle. In fact, to my eyes, it’s quite homely. Now that we have that out of the way, I’ll leave the aesthetic judgements to your own tastes and move on to how Toyota’s sophomore effort at a plug-in version of its icon works. While the first-generation Prius PHV was a bit of a swing and a miss, the functionality this time is in most respects a home run. The Great Race 2017 Visits Ypsilanti

The Great Race is an amazing annual road rally for vintage cars sponsored by Hemmings Motor News and Hagerty Insurance. This year, the newest cars that were allowed are from 1972 with that year being represented by a first-generation Nissan Skyline GT-R and the oldest being a century old 1917 Peerless driven by Hagerty VP Jonathan Klinger. This event epitomizes the best of car culture. Despite their age, these machines aren’t museum pieces, they were built to be driven and that’s how they are being used today. Herewith is a sampling of the field as they made a stop in Ypsilanti, Michigan while travelling more than 2,000 miles from Jacksonville, Florida to Traverse City, Michigan.
