We’re back after a week off while the crew settled into isolation or some semblance thereof. Actually Rebecca had to help her brother out and family comes first. Please bear with us at the top of the show as we veer off into some discussion of the potential long-term ramifications on driving, commuting and the auto industry from the current COVID-19 outbreak but I promise we do talk about vehicles.
Since the team last convened, Sam has been in the BMW M340i xDrive and the Nissan Rogue Sport. Rebecca has spent time with Hyundai’s new entry-level hatchback (aka subcompact crossover) the Venue. We compare and contrast the what you get for your money with these two representatives of different price segments of small crossovers. Meanwhile up in Boston, Dan has gone through the Ford pickup lineup from medium to super-size with the Ranger, F-150 diesel and the F-250.
In the news, with the New York Auto Show pushed out until at least August, Hyundai opted to go ahead with the global reveal of the new 2021 Elantra from appears to be an empty sound stage in Hollywood. It was a typical auto show style presentation, but it seemed a bit eerie in this context. Since Dan didn’t get a chance to share his thoughts on GM EV day last time, we continued that discussion as well.
Finally, we start digging into the growing backlog of listener letters. We had some great thought provoking questions and hopefully we provided some useful advice. We love the feedback we’re getting and promise we will keep trying to get to these each episode so keep them coming.
